¶ 01 Mr. Speaker, the answer is as follows:

¶ 02 (a) (i) Yes. (ii) Regarding the disappearance on 09.12.2011 of Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganandan, facts were reported to the Hon. Magistrate’s Court of Mallākam under B/669/2011 on 12.12.2011, and the Officer-in-Charge of Achchuveli Police has submitted further reports on 17 occasions. At the last sitting on 10.10.2014, the Hon. Magistrate ordered the case to lie by (be kept pending). As no progress had been achieved, on 03.06.2025 the Acting IGP issued necessary orders and instructions to the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct investigations. Accordingly, the Senior DIG, CID/Financial Crimes Investigations, by letter dated 03.06.2025, requested the Senior DIG, Northern Province, to submit extracts of all investigations conducted by Achchuveli Police, Jaffna Scene of Crime Laboratory, and Jaffna Divisional CID. On 11.06.2025, those extracts were forwarded to the CID. The CID’s Homicide and Organized Crimes Division has now commenced investigations. (iii) The CID is conducting investigations into 04 incidents of disappearances after the end of the conflict in the North-East, and the Colombo Crime Division into 06 incidents. None of these investigations have been completed yet. A detailed report is placed in the Library. (iv) No. (v) Not applicable.
