¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Chairperson, I need to clarify a point raised by the Hon. Member. He said no funds were allocated to the Eastern Province and instead foreign allocations would cover it. But as the Hon. President clearly stated in his speech, that specific item explicitly mentions that funds are allocated for the development of the Eastern Province. The recognition of foreign assistance — in this case, from India — is noted, indicating that proposals needed for Eastern development will additionally be received through this. Beyond that special item, substantial funds from across the entire Budget’s programmes — roads, education, health, fisheries industries, etc. — will also flow to the Eastern Province.
