¶ 01 Thoppur Sub-Divisional Secretary’s Division and Kinniya Pradeshiya Sabha Area: Designation as Divisional Secretaries’ Divisions

¶ 02 Question No. 429/2025 to the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government:

¶ 03 (a) Is he aware that— (i) despite the lapse of several years since the establishment of the Thoppur Sub-Divisional Secretary’s Division within the Muttur Divisional Secretary’s Division of the Trincomalee District, it has not yet been designated as a separate Divisional Secretary’s Division; and (ii) although the proposal to make the Kinniya Pradeshiya Sabha area a separate Divisional Secretary’s Division has been approved by the Local Government Commission, it has not yet been implemented?

¶ 04 (b) Will he inform this House, separately, the obstacles to designating (i) the Thoppur Sub-Divisional Secretary’s Division as a separate Divisional Secretary’s Division; and (ii) the Kinniya Pradeshiya Sabha area as a separate Divisional Secretary’s Division?

¶ 05 (c) Will he also inform this House— (i) whether he is aware that more than 1,000 families reside in certain Grama Niladhari Divisions of the Trincomalee District, while around 100 families reside in others; and (ii) if so, whether steps will be taken to rectify this imbalance?

¶ 06 (d) If not, why?
