¶ 01 The Parliament met at 9.30 a.m., Mr. Speaker in the Chair.

¶ 02 ANNOUNCEMENTS

¶ 03 MEETING TO ELECT A MEMBER FOR CONSTITUTIONAL COUNCIL

¶ 04 I wish to draw your attention to Article 41A(1)(f) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka which stipulates the provisions for the appointment of a Member of Parliament, nominated by the agreement of the Members of Parliament who do not represent the Government and those who do not belong to the political party or independent group to which the Leader of the Opposition belongs, as a Member of the Constitutional Council.

¶ 05 In view of the above, I wish to convene a meeting on Friday, 06th December, 2024, tomorrow, at 11.00 a.m. in Committee Room No. 02 of Parliament to discuss and elect a Member for the above appointment, and I request all the Members of Parliament who do not represent the Government and who do not belong to the political party to which the Leader of the Opposition belongs, that is, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, to attend the said meeting.

¶ 06 I also wish to inform you that any requests or nominations for the said appointment from the Hon. Members of Parliament who would not be present at the above meeting will not be considered.

¶ 07 AUDITOR-GENERAL'S REPORT

¶ 08 Under Article 154(6) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, I lay on the Table: - For the financial year 2022: Part XXVI of Volume VI of the Auditor-General’s Report; and - For the financial year 2023: Parts IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, XVII, XVIII and XIX of Volume I; Parts II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI and XII of Volume IV; Parts V, VI, VII, VIII and IX of Volume V; and Parts I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, XVII, XVIII, XIX, XX, XXI and XXII of Volume VI.

¶ 09 Under Article 154(6) of the Constitution, I also lay the Special Audit Report of the Auditor-General in Volume X on the scheme implemented from 01 May 2022 to 15 September 2023 to issue permits for the import of fully electric vehicles based on foreign remittances by Sri Lankans employed overseas.

¶ 10 The dates covered are from 01 May 2022 to 15 September 2023.

¶ 11 I will look into the issue regarding the dates raised and have our Secretariat report back to the House.
