¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Speaker, the reply is as follows:

¶ 02 (a) (i) Yes. (ii) 2,650 candidates. (iii) 100. (iv) Temporarily suspended. (v) All candidates’ marks were compiled in descending order and a priority list prepared. Background checks and medical examinations were conducted, and 100 suitable candidates identified. Several candidates have lodged appeals. In line with para. 7.2.4.5.2, Note 03 of the approved recruitment procedure, the Inspector-General of Police, as appointing authority, has appointed a committee. Note 03 is tabled as an annex. Upon receipt of the committee’s recommendations, we will proceed expeditiously with recruitment.

¶ 03 (b) Does not arise.

¶ 04 Note 03 (tabled): Based on adverse background reports, the appointing authority may decide on suitability. Where a candidate appeals a rejection, the appointing authority may decide based on a committee’s recommendation. Only candidates without adverse background are called for medicals. Providing false information renders a candidate unsuitable and, if later discovered after appointment, will result in termination at any time.
