¶ 01 Mr. Chairman, I move the following New Clauses:

¶ 02 “On page 2, immediately after line 16, insert the following:

¶ 03 4. Prohibition on reduction of wages and allowances No employer, in any manner, shall reduce the monthly wage of any worker employed in any industry or service, including any allowance payable under the National Minimum Wage of Workers Act, No. 3 of 2016, the Budgetary Relief Allowance of Workers Act, No. 36 of 2005, or the Budgetary Relief Allowance of Workers Act, No. 4 of 2016, on account of the increase made to the national minimum wage by the amendments made under this Act.

¶ 04 5. Implementation of increase to national minimum wage The Commissioner-General shall issue directions requiring any employer, including a principal employer obtaining the services of any worker in any industry or service through an intermediary or a contractor, to take all necessary steps to duly implement the increase made to the national minimum wage by the amendments made to the National Minimum Wage of Workers Act, No. 3 of 2016 under this Act.”

¶ 05 Brought up, and read the First time.

¶ 06 Mr. Chairman, I move that the New Clauses be now read a Second time.
