¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, I table the answer.

¶ 02 (a) (i) As per the letter No. BDA/1/29/A dated 25.07.2000 issued under the signature of the Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Planning, titled “Placement of graduates recruited to enhance capacity to implement priority functions of the Government in permanent positions,” 10,326 graduates were recruited: 730 against existing vacancies and 9,596 through creation of new positions.

¶ 03 (ii) As per para 03.02 of the same letter, graduates were selected in three intakes, with appointment dates: - Training call date 17.05.1999 → Appointment date 16.05.2000 - 01.10.1999 → 02.10.2000 - 08.11.1999 → 08.11.2000

¶ 04 (iii) The instruction letter for confirmation was issued by the Ministry of Finance and Planning on 25.07.2000.

¶ 05 (iv) Guidance provided under paragraph 03 of that letter.

¶ 06 (v) A copy is tabled as Annex 01.

¶ 07 (b) (i) Such details should be obtained from the respective institutions to which officers were assigned.

¶ 08 (ii) Addressed in the letter’s para 04 (Annex 01).

¶ 09 (iii) Yes. Schemes of recruitment have been prepared.

¶ 10 (iv) Officers who opted to be absorbed into the Development Officers’ Service are governed by the current Service Minute for Development Officers for promotions. For those who did not opt, the relevant departments/institutions are preparing promotion schemes. Two finalized examples are tabled as Annexes 02 and 03.

¶ 11 (v) Service minutes/schemes should be obtained from the respective institutions to which these appointees were assigned.

¶ 12 (vi) Not applicable.

¶ 13 (vii) Answered under (iv).
