¶ 01 With regard to Private Members’ Motion No. P. 30/2025 of the Hon. Ravi Karunanayake titled “Prohibition of naming political parties on ethnic and religious bases,” a written request signed by nine Opposition Party Leaders and Members including the Hon. Leader of the Opposition was handed to me yesterday, 2025.10.09.

¶ 02 Firstly, I advise the Hon. Member to discuss this with those nine Members led by the Leader of the Opposition and seek a resolution. Further, under the authority vested in me by Standing Order 146B, and pending consideration by the Committee on Parliamentary Business regarding taking it up for debate, I have decided not to take up the Motion today.
