¶ 01 LAND DONATED TO REGGIE RANATUNGA EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND: DETAILS

¶ 02 asked the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education:

¶ 03 (a) Is she aware that— (i) the “Reggie Ranatunga Educational Scholarship Fund” was established under the Incorporation Act, No. 28 of 2000 with the aim of promoting the educational, health and social welfare of poor children; (ii) a land of about 100 perches in the Pansilgoda Grama Niladhari Division, Minuwangoda, Gampaha District was donated to it on 07.04.2003; (iii) a building was constructed there in 2005 and a vocational training institute was started, but the institute was closed down in 2021; and (iv) in 2023, the building was demolished, the land fenced and gated, and coconut saplings planted, thereby attempting illegally and fraudulently to acquire the land for private possession? (b) Will she inform the House of steps that can be taken to transfer the land to an appropriate government institution for public use? (c) If not, why?
