¶ 01 LANDS OWNED BY LAND REFORM COMMISSION: DETAILS

¶ 02 asked the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation: (a) Will he inform this House— (i) whether the objectives of establishing the Land Reform Commission have been achieved by now; (ii) the total extent of land owned by the said Commission; (iii) the number of government institutions which own State lands; (iv) the names of the aforesaid institutions; and (v) the extent of lands disposed to other parties, out of the lands owned by each of the aforesaid institutions, separately? (b) If not, why?

¶ 03 Answer tabled:

¶ 04 (a) (i) Many objectives have been achieved. (ii) Extents declared under the Land Reform Law are: under Law No. 1 of 1972 — 1,418,391 acres, 3 roods, 37 perches; and under Law No. 39 — 418,754 acres, 2 roods, 28 perches. Of the declared lands, those vested under the amended Law No. 1 of 1972 have been vested district-wise in the Commission; total extents upon taking over have not been fully surveyed. (Annex placed in the Library.) Identified lands are being mapped with the Department of Survey. (iii) Not applicable. (iv) Not applicable. (v) Not applicable. (b) Not applicable.
