¶ 01 asked the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation: (a) Will he state - (i) whether he accepts that the overflow of the Gin River has a major impact on the lives and properties of the people of the Galle District; (ii) whether reports have been prepared regarding the projects proposed to be implemented after 2000 to control the overflow of the Gin River or for any other purpose; (iii) if so, what those reports are; (iv) the names of the institutions which prepared those reports; (v) the amount spent on the preparation of those project/feasibility study reports; and (vi) the sources from which funds were obtained for that purpose? (b) Will he also state - (i) whether projects have been implemented to control the overflow of the Gin River; and (ii) if so, the year each project was initiated, the year it was completed, the amount allocated, the amount spent, the implementing institution and the solutions given, separately? (c) If not, why?
