¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Chairperson of Committees, I raise a point with a small addition to the Hon. Member’s speech. He raised a valid matter: to also examine the accounts and funds of political parties. That must indeed be examined. The reason is that those political parties wield state power and then defraud the public. Especially, in recent times, certain notorious businessmen infiltrated parties and destroyed parties that had reputations in this country; they destroyed leaderships. People like Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa ended up in extremely helpless circumstances. I thought such provisions would also be in this Bill we are about to pass. Hon. Minister of Justice, if possible, bring an amendment to this Bill to investigate the thieves who destroyed important parties like the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the recent past and those who embezzled those parties. Hon. Member, I am grateful to you for presenting this with a clear conscience.
