¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Chairperson, this morning Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that an audio clip was tabled suggesting I had said something. I inquired from the Secretariat whether such an audio was tabled. They said he refused to provide it. If the Opposition uses this august Assembly to do low politics, that is most regrettable. Having spoken here, he went around and showed it to others too, saying he knew where Deshabandu was staying—he uttered a lie in this Chamber. We cannot allow this as a practice. What Hon. Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe raised was of the same nature. We cannot turn this august House into a place where social media fabrications are brought and falsehoods propagated. He said the clip involving me was tabled. The Secretariat, even with limited staff, is now acting to inform him to produce it.
