¶ 01 Yes, we said we would remove the Governor. And now? Now you say bring the former Governor back—what are you saying? You came to power saying the IGP would be appointed immediately; if he is not appointed, you cannot even arrest the Police Chief. That is the truth.

¶ 02 Finally, when 10 kg of rice was distributed, you said a national rice shortage occurred because of that. I propose we must provide relief to low-income people to live, and create a program to uplift them.

¶ 03 You now distribute rice again. One cannot live a week on 10 kg of rice. We thought you would at least give 20 kg per family. But now you give 5 kg. Therefore, I propose you provide greater relief to the low-income, and take measures where needed to revive the economy. People cannot live. Rice is now over Rs. 250 per kilo; a coconut is around Rs. 250. Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe said not to eat pol sambol or curd. People in villages do not have your luxuries; they live on pol sambol. I urge you to fulfill promises to the people and state employees. Do not tell teachers to go and get qualified; accept their qualifications as they are. Teachers who came with union leaders have taught you a lesson and will wait till the next election.
