¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, there are persistent issues with roads under Pradeshiya Sabhas and the Provincial Council in our district. The Minister stated that Rs. 40 million has been allocated via the RDA and that work will proceed with the Transport and Highways Ministry. In Batticaloa, many bridges link Paduvankarai and Eravur Pattu areas. In December 2024, when we met the Hon. President, we discussed reconstruction of these bridges, and we have raised this many times, including when Minister Bimal Rathnayake visited. We requested several bridges. On Pattiruppu bridge development we requested action, but no work seems to have started. Similarly, Mandur–Kurumanveli, Ampilanthurai–Kurukkalmadam, and the bridge to Narippul Thottam show no progress. The Magilavettuvan bridge was damaged in floods and not yet repaired; likewise, the Kiran bridge. Please work with the RDA to have a plan and explain funding so that travel between Paduvankarai and Eravur Pattu can be efficient.
