¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, I raise a question of privilege. After my election to the 10th Parliament from Ratnapura District with over 139,000 preference votes representing the National People’s Power in 2024, false statements targeting me were disseminated from 16.12.2025 onwards on social and electronic media, allegedly initiated by the OIC of Sooriya Kanda Police, officers named Chaminda and Susantha, and later by a Samagi Jana Balawegaya member of the Kolonna Pradeshiya Sabha named Buddhika. These actions aim to hinder my parliamentary duties and contravene the Parliament (Powers and Privileges) Act. Further, Hon. Ajith P. Perera of the SJB, described as a “Senior Attorney,” held a media conference on 17.12.2025 naming me, my party, district and vote count, making false statements, thereby breaching the said Act and my parliamentary privileges. I request all those responsible be referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for appropriate action.
