¶ 01 Please give me one minute, Hon. Deputy Speaker.

¶ 02 At this time, please implement the necessary procedures to send the people in the relief camps back to their homes. State clearly what support and justice you will provide to the farmers whose fields were damaged. Specify your plan: Will you pay Rs. 100,000 per acre as requested, or not? Hon. Deputy Speaker, those who said Rs. 100,000 will be paid where there is structural damage to a house—are they paying it? Will Rs. 500,000 be given to purchase land? Will Rs. 1,000,000 be given to build a full house on purchased land? Will Rs. 25,000 be given per school-going child? Will Rs. 25,000 be given towards house rent? Make decisions on these and act accordingly.

¶ 03 Finally, I request you to inform the Hon. Speaker as well. Appoint a Special Select Committee to inquire into this. In appointing it, please prioritize Members representing the disaster-affected areas—not like in the container issue where the Government appointed eight from the Government and four from here and chaired it from the Government, turning it into a farce. Appoint Members from genuinely affected districts like Gampola, Nuwara Eliya, Kotmale, Kegalle, Matale, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and in the Eastern Province such as Mutur and Ampara, so that this Committee can honestly and in good faith determine the factors that led to such severe devastation.
