¶ 01 Thank you very much, Hon. Presiding Member. I did not flee. I knew the Hon. Deputy Minister was to inquire into this matter; therefore I remained and had no reason to leave. I do not wish to enter into a debate. I tabled that document because it was requested from that side. We do not wish to prolong this matter using the House. However, let me state this: if you look at yesterday’s Hansard, it is clear to all that he functioned as Director of the Rehabilitation Authority while also functioning as Chairman of the Bribery Commission. Yesterday it was clearly stated that he was seconded and drew no allowance. I invite our Deputy Minister, Hon. Sunil Watagala, to look at yesterday’s Hansard. Otherwise, the Opposition will not be able to misuse this for false allegations. The people of this country expect the Government to deliver what it promised, rather than to simply hunt for corruption day and night. We completely support combating corruption and fraud — I remind the House of that as well.
