¶ 02 Hon. Presiding Member, I thank Hon. Kabir Hashim for bringing this Motion on behalf of the people.

¶ 03 Government Members ask how to reduce tariffs, claiming it is impossible. Yet you yourselves promised a 30% reduction. Today, every home uses electrical appliances. We were elected for the people—not solely for industries. Focus on resolving basic issues. Many cannot pay even Rs. 1,000–2,000 monthly electricity bills; disconnections follow, plus interest on arrears, and Rs. 3,500 as reconnection fees on top of small arrears—this must stop.

¶ 04 When private firms offer rooftop solar, senior officials and engineers say the area lacks capacity—how then will you develop the country? You alleged coal and fuel commissions would be stopped when you came to power. There has been no drought since you took office; hydro generation is available—why not reduce tariffs? Do not rely only on the power sector to run the country; set tariffs that help poor households and small producers. Provide people and other consumers with real solutions and accept this Motion.
