¶ 01 The Parliament met at 9.30 a.m., Mr. Speaker in the Chair.

¶ 02 ANNOUNCEMENTS

¶ 03 Use of Unparliamentary Language in the Chamber

¶ 04 Honourable Members, I have observed that on some occasions during proceedings in the Chamber, certain Members continuously use words that are inappropriate, unparliamentary and unbecoming of the dignity of Parliament. The use of such words undermines the decorum of this Honourable House and is a very unfortunate and regrettable situation. I wish to draw the special attention of the House to this matter.

¶ 05 I strongly emphasize that Honourable Members should hereafter refrain from summoning and accusing other Members with such inappropriate words directed at them.

¶ 06 Accordingly, I earnestly look forward to your cooperation, as representatives of the people, to pay special attention to this matter so that the functions of Parliament, the supreme institution of the country, can be conducted with greater discipline and as an example.

¶ 07 AUDITOR-GENERAL’S REPORT

¶ 08 In terms of Article 154(6) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, I present:

¶ 09 - Section 1.1 of Part II of the Auditor-General’s Report for the Financial Year 2023; and - Sections XXVII, XXVIII and XXIX of Part II, Sections XIX and XX of Part III, and Sections XV and XVI of Part IX of the Auditor-General’s Report for the Financial Year 2024.

¶ 10 Question put, and agreed to.
