¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, the answer is as follows:

¶ 02 (a) (i) The number of employees currently serving at the District General Hospital, Gampaha is 1,034.

¶ 03 (ii) The details are shown in the Cadre Review as at 2025.09.30 (District General Hospital — Gampaha).

¶ 04 (iii) In addition, Ward Sister training has commenced and will address remaining vacancies upon completion. There are 17 Attendant vacancies, which will be resolved as we promote existing staff. - There is currently a limited number of vacancies for Medical Officers. Future recruitments will allocate according to service needs. At present, around three Medical Officer vacancies exist and can be filled. - The cadre numbers referenced were based on 2017/2018 and are now being revised. - Nursing trainees and upcoming nursing diploma holders completing training will be appointed, including those undergoing six months of internship and integration training; appointments will allocate some to this hospital as appropriate. - Additional nursing graduates have been provided to certain Teaching and line Ministry tertiary hospitals for training. As this hospital is under the Provincial Council, we could not assign nursing graduates there directly. - Approvals have been received from the Department of Management Services to recruit for Medical Laboratory Technologist, Physiotherapist, Radiographer, Occupational Therapist and Audiology Technical Officer positions. Upon recruitment, allocations will be made to hospitals according to vacancies. - Other minor and support staff vacancies will be recruited by the Provincial Council and assigned according to service needs.

¶ 05 (b) (i) At present, medicines are stored to the required standards within designated rooms adapted for storage at appropriate points in the hospital. While there is no purpose-built standardized drug store, required standards are maintained at other locations; however, a standardized drug store is indeed a need of this hospital.

¶ 06 (ii) Under the Master Plan, the location for a drug store has been identified; the hospital administration has already submitted the relevant plans through the Provincial Director of Health Services to the Ministry’s Planning Division. The 2026 plan for new buildings at the Gampaha District General Hospital includes the drug store, and the necessary provisions will be managed and provided through allocations to the Provincial Council.

¶ 07 (iii) Average service numbers:

¶ 08 - Outpatients (daily): 674; monthly: 20,303 - Clinics (daily): 1,137; monthly: 34,121 - Ward admissions (daily): 244; monthly: 7,363

¶ 09 (iv) Yes.

¶ 10 (v) Upon implementation of the Master Plan, the current bed capacity of 773 will be increased to 1,570.
