The Hon. Mahinda Jayasinghe - Deputy Minister of Labour

¶ 01 Sir, I rise to a point of order. For some time, various YouTube channels have spread mud-slinging and fake propaganda that the Mount Lavinia Court ordered the arrest of Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe and Mayor Ranjan Jayalal. They cited “Attorney-at-Law Dayasiri Jayasekara.” I previously challenged President’s Counsel Maithri Gunaratne too: if any such court order exists, table it. Do not utter lies. Where is such an order? Table the court order—what did the court say? Hon. Presiding Member, both I and Comrade Wasantha Samarasinghe and Comrade Ranjan Jayalal were told only to record statements before 22 August. We three went and gave statements. If needed, we can narrate the incident in detail, but this is not the time. Former Minister John Seneviratne abused his political power to fraudulently register one faction of a trade union with the Labour Department—this is confirmed in two letters by the Commissioner General of Labour. Therefore the matter is clear. I challenge the Hon. Member: do not hide behind parliamentary privilege and the “Attorney-at-Law” label to lie here. There is no such order. Withdraw the false statement immediately. Do not continue to lie under privilege.
