¶ 01 I lay on the Table the report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Environment, Agriculture and Sustainable Use of Resources, relating to: (i) Performance Reports and Annual Accounts of the Department of Measurement Units, Standards and Services for 2022 and 2024; (ii) Annual Reports of the Ceylon Government Commercial (Miscellaneous) Corporation for 2021/2022, 2022/2023 and 2023/2024; (iii) Performance Reports of the Cooperative Employees’ Commission for 2023 and 2024; (iv) Performance Reports of the Department of the Registrar of Companies for 2023 and 2024; (v) Annual Reports of Lanka Sathosa Ltd. for 2021 and 2022; (vi) Performance Reports of the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development for 2023 and 2024; (vii) Performance Report of the Department of Cooperative Development for 2022; (viii) Annual Report of the Consumer Affairs Authority for 2022; and (ix) Annual Reports and Accounts of the Lalith Athulathmudali Mahapola Higher Education Trust Fund for 2021 and 2022.

¶ 02 Ordered to lie upon the Table.

¶ 03 I request a few seconds to note that most reports being approved are old, many with issues. Sectoral Committees need official support teams for data gathering. If facilities can be provided to all Committees, not only the one I chair, it will benefit Parliament’s work and the Government.
