¶ 01 Samurdhi Development Officers Serving in Vavuniya District: Details

¶ 02 Question No. 1316/2025 to the Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment:

¶ 03 (a) Will he inform this House— (i) separately, the number of Samurdhi Development Officers serving in the Vavuniya District and the current number of vacancies for the position; (ii) whether new officers will be recruited to fill the vacancies referred to above; (iii) whether he is aware that the Samurdhi Development Officers currently serving have been serving in the same Divisional Secretary’s Division for many years; (iv) whether they can be transferred to other Divisional Secretary’s Divisions; (v) whether he is aware that Samurdhi Development Officers in the Vavuniya District have been appointed on political basis in the recent past; and (vi) whether a situation has arisen where transfers cannot be granted to those Samurdhi Development Officers as a result of that? (b) Will he also inform this House— (i) whether he is aware that internal inquiries are being conducted against some Samurdhi Development Officers in the Vavuniya District for committing financial fraud; and (ii) if so, the current progress of those inquiries? (c) If not, why?
