¶ 02 Privilege: Non-Allocation of Time to Speak in Parliament

¶ 03 A Motion may be moved to refer the Question of Privilege raised by the Hon. (Dr.) Ramanathan Archchuna, M.P., in Parliament on 23rd January, 2025 to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.

¶ 04 Special Security Arrangements on 17th February, 2025

¶ 05 I wish to inform all the Hon. Members of Parliament that the following special security arrangements will be implemented in connection with the Budget Speech for the year 2025 to be made by the Hon. Minister of Finance on Monday, the 17th of February, 2025:

¶ 06 - I wish to inform that the security arrangements for Friday, the 14th of February, 2025 will be as follows: - The entire Parliament building including the rest rooms and wardrobes of the Members of Parliament will be subjected to security inspection on this day.

¶ 07 - I also wish to inform that the security arrangements for Monday, the 17th of February, 2025 will be as follows: (a) The High Security Areas/Significant Locations identified in the Parliament building will be subjected to security inspection on this day. (b) The Public Gallery will be open to the invited guests only. (c) The Hon. Members of Parliament accompanying their spouses may alight at the staff entrance and proceed to the Parliament building. (d) The Hon. Members are kindly requested to be driven by chauffeurs, if possible, and to refrain from bringing guests to Parliament on this day. (e) Parliamentary staff drivers will be stationed at the Members' Entrance, Staff Entrance and Public Entrance to park the vehicles driven by Hon. Members of Parliament in the designated parking areas. (f) Since the Public Gallery is restricted to invited guests, all the Hon. Members of Parliament are kindly requested to have any other guests (excluding spouses) alight at the Jayanthipura Entrance. A special transport arrangement has been made to take these guests to the Public Entrance. (g) The MPP Car Park will be kept closed on this day and the vehicles of the MPP will be directed to the relevant car parks. (h) Special traffic arrangements will be adopted by the Traffic Police and the nearest police stations in the area on this day.

¶ 08 Cooperation of all Hon. Members of Parliament is kindly expected towards the aforementioned special security arrangements.
