¶ 01 Hon. Prime Minister, your comments today are quite reassuring. You know that the Wickrematunge family have been very uncompromising with regard to their pursuit of justice. But, at the same time, they have been extremely measured with their public statements with regard to the investigations into Mr. Lasantha Wickrematunge’s death. His daughter's coming on record requesting for an Impeachment of the Attorney-General, you would agree, is quite a significant request and I think the response from the Government must be equally significant because this is an emblematic case. And the second point is, Mr. Wickrematunge is iconic. You know that a very few journalists would demand and command the amount of respect that he did across the Floor of this House and even across the ethnic lines. So, I think it is extremely encouraging what you said, Hon. Prime Minister, and I sincerely hope that you would take those steps very urgently.
