¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, the situation described is real. The 832 acres are there. Similar issues exist elsewhere where very large extents are involved. People cannot even build toilets easily because of ancient sannasas being cited. We must clearly assess this and bring just amendments to the Buddhist Temporalities Ordinance and the Antiquities laws, and build clear understanding between both parties to reduce tensions. We also need to approach courts correctly and expedite cases; otherwise, children’s education and people’s hardships worsen. I will intervene and will draw the Government’s urgent attention to a policy decision covering Humbuluwa and similar cases.
