Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayatissa - Minister of Health and Mass Media and Chief Government Whip

¶ 01 Mr. Speaker, on behalf of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, I lay before the House the following recommendations and orders:

¶ 02 1) In terms of Article 154R(4) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the recommendations of the Finance Commission for the year 2025 to be submitted to His Excellency the President; and

¶ 03 2) Under Section 12 of the Fiscal Management (Responsibility) Act, No. 3 of 2003, to be read with the provisions of Act No. 12 of 2012, the Order made by the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies, published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2411/56 dated 22 November 2024.

¶ 04 I move that these recommendations and the order be referred to the Committee on Public Finance.

¶ 05 Question put, and agreed to.

¶ 06 Furthermore, under Sections 21 and 139 read with Section 27(1) of the Universities Act, No. 16 of 1978, upon the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, the Order made by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology establishing the Department of Public Health and Family Medicine in the University of Moratuwa, published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2412/36 dated 29 November 2024; and

¶ 07 Under Section 19A of the Customs Ordinance (as amended by Acts No. 35 of 1974 and No. 83 of 1988), being the 235th Schedule, regarding customs import duty, the Order made by the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies, published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2421/02 dated 27 January 2025.
