¶ 01 Hon. Presiding Member, I do not want to reply to the Deputy Minister of Defence; it is a lost cause. But, Hon. Minister, to tell you just one incident: it involves former Member of Parliament Selvarajah Kajendren, who was assaulted in Trincomalee. The videos of the assault went viral. The people who assaulted him in Thampalakamam were the same people who were behaving as thugs two days ago in Trincomalee; they were the same people. Those people were caught.

¶ 02 I am finishing up, Sir. The Hon. Minister asked for specifics and I am giving him those.

¶ 03 So, those people were identified, they were arrested and the police eventually produced them in court. That very same day, the ASP went to the High Court and asked that they all be released on bail because, otherwise, there would be riots.

¶ 04 An Hon. Member was assaulted, the police arrested the suspects, produced them in court and they were remanded. Then it was the very same ASP who went to the High Court and said that they all must be released, or otherwise, there would be riots. And they were released! That is just one example. So, I cannot list them, Sir.
