The Hon. Amirthanathan Adaikkalanathan

¶ 01 Thank you, Hon. Speaker.

¶ 02 False news has been spread about me—Amirthanathan Adaikkalanathan, a Member of Parliament representing the Tamil people—via online media, fake Facebook accounts, YouTube, and by certain individuals and an outlet called IBC, maligning my name and office. They falsely link a suicide death to me as a murder. Spliced and manipulated audio clips of purported phone conversations are being posted on fake Facebook pages and circulated to damage my reputation domestically and internationally, causing me severe mental distress and undermining the dignity of this august House.

¶ 03 An online outlet “IBC Tamil TV,” registered to “Smart Media Group” in Sri Lanka and listed at 280, Wood End Gardens, Northolt, UB5 4QJ, UK, is said to be operating despite reported prohibitions by security authorities. Another online yellow press outlet “Kalaikathir” published on 11.11.2025 that I am certain to be arrested.

¶ 04 These actions violate Section 22(2) of the Parliament (Powers and Privileges) Act, and constitute offences under the Penal Code cognizable by the Supreme Court. Their deliberate dissemination of falsehoods tarnishes my parliamentary privilege. I request that the Committee on Ethics and Privileges investigate and provide me justice.
