¶ 02 ANNOUNCEMENTS

¶ 03 Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Bill: Petitions to the Supreme Court

¶ 04 In addition to the four petitions referred to in my announcements on 03, 04 and 05 June 2025, I wish to inform Parliament that, in terms of Article 121(1) of the Constitution, three further petitions relating to the Bill titled “Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment)” have been filed in the Supreme Court, and copies thereof have been received by me.

¶ 05 Committee to Inquire into Complaint on Behaviour of Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara on 20.05.2025: Replacement of Member

¶ 06 Having considered a complaint received by me regarding the conduct of Hon. Attorney-at-Law Dayasiri Jayasekara, Member of Parliament, within the Chamber on 20 May 2025, I appointed a three-member Committee to inquire and report thereon, chaired by Hon. Deputy Chairperson of Committees Hemali Weerasekera, with Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and Hon. Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka as Members, which was announced to this House on 23 May 2025.

¶ 07 As Hon. Gayantha Karunathilaka has, by letter dated 05 June 2025, informed that due to heavy workload he is unable to serve on the said Committee, I have appointed Hon. Attorney-at-Law Rauff Hakeem, Member of Parliament, in his place. I wish to inform the House accordingly.
