¶ 01 Hon. Minister, thank you. In Batticaloa many rural communities still depend heavily on post offices for services, with correspondence still common. For instance, the people of Maankadu have requested a Sub Post Office for nearly 20 years. Similar issues exist in Pattipalai and Ambalangoda Divisional areas, and in Kokkatticholai the post office lacks electricity and telephone service; it should be relocated to the main road. My first supplementary: Can your Ministry adopt a special programme to identify rural needs in the North, East and South, to establish new Sub Post Offices where required and to provide facilities and resources to existing rural post offices?
