¶ 01 Thank you. We have identified disparities in physical resources, notably sports grounds. This year we plan, islandwide, to develop at least one 400m track-equipped ground in three Provincial schools per district, and also one National School per district with a 400m track. This should initially mitigate distribution gaps, though we recognise more is needed and will continue. Development is based on criteria proposed by the Sports Ministry and implemented by the Education Ministry.

¶ 02 Regarding sports schools: there are 17 at present. Reviews showed some not achieving core objectives. We will realign all sports schools to meet their foundational goals, including nutrition programmes, adjusted timetables, and adequate coaches. We have opportunities this year to recruit Physical Education teachers via Colleges of Education, which will help meet needs. Additionally, together with the Sports Ministry, we are exploring fully developing at least one sports school per district so that by next year each district will have a school capable of meeting comprehensive sports needs.
