¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Speaker, regarding the investigation into the murder of the Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, the police have already deployed investigation teams and inquiries are ongoing. The police are also examining the exchanged telephone data. Therefore, we expect that the gunmen as well as the masterminds will be apprehended very soon. The Minister of Public Security will inform Parliament about the current risk assessments and the provision of security to people’s representatives facing life threats—whether security has been provided or will be provided. Particularly, with regard to Provincial Councillors with underworld links or those with possible connections to organized criminal gangs, the Ministry of Public Security will make disclosures in due course. Those investigations are progressing. Depending on the efficiency of those teams, we expect to reveal these matters soon.
