¶ 01 Hon. Member, we do not shelve investigations into incidents—unlike during your government. For an incident at 1.30 a.m., the suspects were in custody by morning and are being produced in court. Two incidents occurred last night—one in Sabaragamuwa Province and another in Nuwara Eliya. As per complaints, suspects are arrested first, investigations conducted, and they are produced in court, after which we act according to court orders. Hon. Mano Ganesan also raised this at the lunch recess yesterday. We are paying attention and will not allow such incidents to continue.

¶ 02 This is not political. Such incidents occur; we must act to prevent them.

¶ 03 Hon. Members, now is not the time to debate this at length.

¶ 04 If needed, we can arrange discussions with the Police. The Senior DIG informed me Hon. Mano Ganesan visited and intervened. We are willing to facilitate discussions with the Police, here or in Nuwara Eliya. All Members are here; both government and opposition have reported matters to us and we are attentive. We have not neglected anything. Regarding the two incidents last night, action has already been taken. How can it be said we have not intervened?
