¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Speaker, I pose the following Question to the Hon. Prime Minister:

¶ 02 In one of the two universities in Gampaha District — the newly-created faculties of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine — students are protesting alleging a lack of required facilities.

¶ 03 (1) Has the problem at the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine been identified? If so, what is it?

¶ 04 (2) It is reported that you have said that the said university is unsuccessful. If that is true, what is the reason?

¶ 05 (3) Apart from the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, can the required facilities for the other faculties not be operated in a new premises close to the university?

¶ 06 (4) You have appointed an expert committee. What are its conclusions and what decisions has the Government taken?

¶ 07 Additionally, I wish to draw your attention to a matter: there is unrest regarding the appointment of a Principal to Bandaranaike College, Gampaha. There are protests and unrest even among students. I ask you to urgently attend to this, as student involvement could harm the school’s reputation. Are you aware of this? If possible, please provide an answer.
