¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, I ask the following from the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development regarding the “Aswesuma” programme:

¶ 02 (a) (i) The number of appeals and objections filed, separately;

¶ 03 (ii) Out of them, the numbers being resolved and those for which benefits have been re-granted, separately; and

¶ 04 (iii) The expected time frame to complete the settlement?

¶ 05 (b) (i) Whether a scientific data system will be introduced to select beneficiaries;

¶ 06 (ii) The new data to be verified through it;

¶ 07 (iii) Whether persons who obtained benefits based on false information have been identified;

¶ 08 (iv) Whether steps have been taken to recover money paid to such persons and to take legal action; and

¶ 09 (v) If so, the amount recovered?

¶ 10 (c) Whether it has been proposed to adjust benefits based on cost of living; whether programmes to empower beneficiary families have been initiated; and whether local or foreign funds have been allocated?

¶ 11 (d) If not, why?
