¶ 03 Amended Schedule for Committee Stage Discussion of Budget, 2026

¶ 04 Hon. Members, after considering the current nationwide emergency situation, the Committee on Parliamentary Business which met on 27th November, 2025 decided not to hold the Committee Stage debate on the Budget scheduled for today, and not to hold a Parliamentary sitting tomorrow, 29th November, 2025. Accordingly, the schedule for the Committee Stage of the Budget 2026 has been amended as follows:

¶ 05 - The Votes on the Ministries of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Women and Child Affairs, which were to be taken on Saturday, 29th November, 2025, will be taken on Monday, 01st December, 2025 from 10.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (with the vote at 6.00 p.m.). On the same day, the Votes of the Ministries of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, and Environment will be taken from 6.00 p.m. to 12.00 midnight (with the vote at 12.00 midnight).

¶ 06 - The Vote on the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development will be taken on Tuesday, 02nd December, 2025 from 10.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (with the vote at 6.00 p.m.). The Votes on the Ministry of Water Supply and the Ministry of Rural Infrastructure, which were to be taken on Friday, 28th November, will be taken from 6.00 p.m. to 12.00 midnight on 02nd December (with the vote at 12.00 midnight).

¶ 09 A motion can be moved to refer the matter raised under Privileges by Hon. Hiruni Wijesinghe, MP, on 18th November 2025, to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
