¶ 01 Many in the Opposition today went far beyond the Bill and created a great uproar. Listening to what some in the Opposition said from the beginning of today’s sitting, I am puzzled. Why was this Parliament established? Our Members, as representatives of the people, come to Parliament, form a government—what is our role? Some statements were incomprehensible.

¶ 02 Let me be clear: within our Government’s term, if any representative or official has committed a wrong—whether knowingly or unknowingly—we must find out what it is. That is our responsibility. Those asking why alleged incidents, said to have occurred months ago, were not brought to Parliament earlier must also reflect on the atmosphere outside—falsehoods, propaganda, and media narratives. In such a context, some matters cannot simply be announced outside. There is a pattern of blatant lies and serious defamation both inside and outside this House. Recent statements by some Opposition MPs to the media were shameful, raising doubts whether they have regressed or been subsumed by social currents. I express satisfaction at the passage of this Bill and resume my seat.
