¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Chairperson of Committees, in the Akkaraipattu Education Zone of the Ampara District, Pottuvil Division, there are teacher vacancies that must be filled urgently. Protests have occurred regarding filling these vacancies. We have long requested a separate Zonal Education Office for our division. Hon. Minister of Education, considering our context, distances and needs, please establish a new Pottuvil Zonal Education Office and permit a Teacher Training Centre in our division to enhance teacher capacity. Recently, protests took place at Pottuvil Al-Hidaya Vidyalaya and Pottuvil Hijra Vidyalaya.

¶ 02 On fuel QR code allocation, in Pottuvil, Arugam Bay and other tourist areas, three-wheelers receive only 15 litres weekly, which is insufficient. Please increase the QR allocation for three-wheelers used for tourism. I thank Mr. M.H. Hameed of the Pottuvil and Arugam Bay Tourist Drivers’ Association.

¶ 03 Paalamunai Divisional Hospital (currently Grade “B”) provides many services. Upgrading it to Grade “A” would benefit people. I request Government action. Irakkamam Hospital urgently needs an OPD building, ward complex and children’s ward complex. Please act swiftly. I thank Chairman M.L. Muzny and Member S.L.M. Raja for their efforts.

¶ 04 In Navithanveli Divisional Secretariat Division, complete and operationalize the Savalakadai Youth Corps Training Centre building. In Pottuvil DS Division, 13/25 village resettlement identified 176 families; only 73 have received land deeds, leaving 103 without. Please expedite deeds and provide roads, electricity, drinking water and sanitation urgently.

¶ 05 A dental doctor must be appointed urgently to Pottuvil Base Hospital; there has been a vacancy for about two months, causing public hardship.

¶ 06 Attach trainee teachers from Addalaichenai National College of Education and Addalaichenai Training College to the most backward Pottuvil areas for practicum to mitigate teacher shortages.

¶ 07 Two Pottuvil National School teachers, A.L.L. Jawath and A.L. Lafeer, died in an accident on 18.08.2010 while on duty to the Akkaraipattu Zonal Office. Despite appeals over 16 years, no compensation has been paid. I request the Ministry of Public Administration to act immediately.
