Mr. Speaker

¶ 01 Petitions have been received under Article 121(1) of the Constitution in respect of the Bill titled “Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal)”. I inform Parliament that three copies of such petitions forwarded to the Supreme Court have been received by me.

¶ 02 A Vote of No-Confidence against the Hon. Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General (Retd.) Aruna Jayasekara, signed by 31 Opposition Members led by the Hon. Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa, dated 2025.08.12, has been handed to me under the title “Vote of No-Confidence”. I will study the contents and inform this Honourable House of the actions to be taken.

¶ 03 In parallel with the special programme organized today by the Youth Parliament to commemorate International Youth Day that had been scheduled for 20 August, the House welcomes all members of the National Youth Council appointed for the year 2025 who are in the Speaker’s Gallery.
