¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Speaker, allow me my time. I said a “former minister,” I did not name him. If someone feels touched, resolve it elsewhere. Also remember, we fear neither you nor your father’s politics. We have defeated all that to form this Government. Criminals are worried; they are agitated. We tell the people of Hambantota and of Sri Lanka that freeing our motherland from criminals is our responsibility, and we will do it to the letter.

¶ 02 This national menace must be curbed with all parties joining. The Opposition should support openly, not play politics underneath. On the Weligama Chairman’s murder, many attempt to hide the real killers by politicizing it. That only strengthens the underworld again. We must understand this. We are turning the country in a new direction; not only the economy but social and cultural life had collapsed. This is not only the Government’s duty; it is for all citizens and the Opposition too. Join to solve it. The law is being enforced. When enforced, those arrested with drugs are often Opposition representatives. Do not panic; we are not slinging mud at parties. Tell your offenders to stop and help rebuild the country. We will enforce the law and establish a national programme so people can live freely and happily. Thank you.
