¶ 02 To the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Hon. Bimal Ratnayake: I took oath on 03 December 2024 and immediately requested rehabilitation of the Eravur–Meerakeny Road and the Housing Scheme–Savukkadi Road under a World Bank project. These roads had been included earlier with Rs. 3,000 million allocated, but the prior government reduced estimates, causing the contractor to withdraw, and took no remedial action. Under the World Bank programme now, contracts were awarded, but delays ensued. You instructed officials to expedite; as a result, Eravur–Meerakeny main road is nearing completion, and the Housing Scheme–Savukkadi road works are to commence. Thank you, Hon. Minister.
