¶ 01 Hon. Deputy Chairperson, a brief correction to Hon. Shritharan’s remarks: We have already resumed work at the Ottuchuddan tile and brick factory, historically known for “PV tiles” named after the deity Pandara Vanniyan. We have begun producing PV tiles and bricks with four vents to reduce heat, suited to the area. We plan to release them to the market shortly. For Parantan, funds are allocated for a chemical manufacturing industrial zone. Due to the war, all buildings were destroyed; we must rebuild. We have set aside 50 acres.

¶ 02 Regarding salt, “table salt” had not been produced there earlier. From the 29th, we will release Elephant Pass salt to the market as a Government product. We inspected Kurinjatheevu; we can restart salt production there, either via private companies or our National Salt Ltd. Jobs will be given to people of the Northern Province; no outsiders or political lists — only suitable locals from your areas will be recruited.
