¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, approved non-grant private schools must comply with Ministry circulars and guidelines. Complaints should be lodged with the Zonal Education Office, which has powers to act; matters can also be referred to the Approved Private Schools Branch of the Ministry. As noted, several regulatory issues have arisen; the Ministry has taken steps including inspections and directions to ensure proper administration, examinations, and admissions in such schools. We are strengthening oversight of approved private schools, including compliance on examinations and teacher recruitment, and will act on substantiated complaints to protect students’ rights.
