¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, on behalf of the Minister of Health and Mass Media, I answer:

¶ 02 (a) (i) Yes. (ii) Yes. The Mulliyawalai Post Office is currently operated in a private building on a rental basis. The land reserved for the Mulliyawalai Post Office is within the Sri Lanka Army’s 230m security fence. The Army has given an oral assurance to release this land by July 2026.

¶ 03 (b) (i) There is a list of 24 post offices operating in rented private buildings in the Northern Province with the monthly rent as at January 2026, as follows:

Thellippalai – Rs. 20,000 14. Urumpirai – Rs. 17,500 15. Valvettithurai – Rs. 30,000 16. Vannarpannai – Rs. 25,000 17. Velanai – Rs. 12,000 18. Pungudutivu – Rs. 13,000

¶ 05 Regional Superintendent of Posts – Mullaitivu 1. Mulliyawalai – Rs. 20,000 2. Puthukkudiyiruppu – Rs. 23,000

¶ 06 Regional Superintendent of Posts – Mannar 1. Chillawathurai – Rs. 5,000 2. Erukkalampiddy – Rs. 27,500 3. Pesalai – Rs. 14,000 4. Chankalei – Rs. 40,000

¶ 07 (ii) Action is being taken to formally reacquire for the Postal Department the land currently used by the Army for the Mulliyawalai Post Office.

¶ 08 (iii) No allocations have been made in the 2026 Budget, as the land has not yet been formally released. However, once the land is cleared, provisions can be set aside for construction in 2027.

¶ 09 (c) Not applicable.
