¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, the answers are:

¶ 02 (a) (i) Yes. (ii) 2020-10-12. (iii) Objectives: - Control and management of flash floods in the Ragama–Peralanda area. - Protect environmental value as a wetland system and open space. - Enhance biodiversity. - Control unauthorized constructions and filling. - Prevent dumping of garbage and demolished debris into the tank and adjoining wetlands. - Improve public mental and physical health in densely populated Ragama by creating wellness walkways. - Create a pleasant environment with open seating, children’s parks, and tree planting for recreation. - Promote local economic development through eateries and small shops.

¶ 03 (iv) Estimated by UDA at LKR 233 million; expenditure to date LKR 199,863,870.30 (Phases I & II). (v) The project comprised three phases. Phases I and II have been completed, including desilting, a perimeter walking path, slope protection with gabions, handrails, two bridges/culverts, drainage works, and lighting to enable public use. (vi) For Phase III—particularly perimeter protection bunds and bridge embankments—LKR 5 million has been allocated in this year’s Budget, and the Provincial Council Fund has allocated LKR 2 million. Thus, LKR 7 million is allocated this year to complete Phase III. Upon completion, operation and maintenance will be handed over to the Ja-Ela Pradeshiya Sabha; they have been informed to take over.
