¶ 01 Hon. Presiding Member, six years have passed since that heinous attack. I hope we never have to debate it again. As an Opposition MP then, I spoke in every debate. After the attacks, I and Hon. Harshana Rajakaruna faced hostility; we became victims too. Let us not have to speak of this again.

¶ 02 I see the government bench today doing what they did before the election—repeating promises. It’s been nine months in office; the President even longer. They vowed justice, to arrest masterminds; some even named them. Yet no arrests; no law in action. Commissions were appointed; special committees; reports with evidence fill two cupboards of Parliament. Has anyone read them properly and sent cases to the AG? I propose appointing a dedicated police team to read and collate all material.

¶ 03 The President says there must be an internal government investigation—meaning he admits people within the State are involved. The Deputy Defence Minister said a group in intelligence is involved; say who they are here, in Parliament. Otherwise you smear the entire intelligence community.

¶ 04 You pointed at others; start with Ibrahim—the father whose two sons blew themselves up—who was on your National List. Who funded them? Start there; then those within the State; then the group inside intelligence. Why this nine-month delay? Before the election you campaigned with church pamphlets and promises to deliver justice; have you?

¶ 05 On casinos: you opposed them in Opposition; now you plan to open one, even bringing Shah Rukh Khan to inaugurate it. Where will the dollars come from? You said casino money flows out of the country; now you expand it. Likewise on Easter—you are not doing what you said. Keep your promises.

¶ 06 People are disillusioned nationwide because you have not done what you promised—especially on Easter. Please deliver justice to the victims.
