¶ 01 Hon. Speaker, I present, on behalf of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health, Mass Media and Women’s Affairs, the Committee’s Report on – (i) Annual Performance Report of the Ministry of Mass Media for the year 2023; (ii) Annual Performance Report of the Government Printing Department for the year 2023; (iii) Performance Report of the Department of Posts for the year 2023; (iv) Annual Report of the Independent Television Network for the year 2022; and (v) Annual Report of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation for the year 2021.

¶ 02 Ordered to lie upon the Table.

¶ 03 Hon. Speaker, I also present the Committee’s Report on – (i) Annual Reports of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation of Sri Lanka for the years 2022 and 2023; (ii) Annual Reports of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority for 2022 and 2023; (iii) Annual Reports of the State Ayurvedic Corporation of Sri Lanka for 2022 and 2023; and (iv) Annual Reports of Vijaya Kumaratunga Memorial Hospital for 2022 and 2023.

¶ 04 Hon. Speaker, I wish to inform earnestly: The audit reports relevant to these performance reports exist, but we do not receive the responses to the audit observations for the Committee. As a result, inquiries get delayed for a long time. Also, according to some reports, there are long-standing accumulated deficits each year. We request the Ministries to prepare a review report and submit it along with the reports to the Committee; otherwise, we have to spend considerable time discussing the same matters repeatedly.
