¶ 01 Mr. Speaker, on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, I answer as follows.

¶ 02 (a) (i) Under the provisions of the Land Reform Commission Law No. 1 of 1972, many assigned lands were not subjected to proper surveying at the time of vesting. Therefore, they have not been precisely identified.

¶ 03 (ii) Actions will proceed in accordance with the provisions of the LRC Law and approved circulars. [Note: A district-wise, estate-wise status table indicates issues such as pending surveys, unauthorized cultivation (e.g., tea), litigation regarding certain extents, and the need to verify cultivation and occupancy.]

¶ 04 (b) (i) No.

¶ 05 (ii) The Commission does not issue “permits”; lands are alienated on a conditional basis under Section 22(1)(a) for agricultural purposes and 22(1)(b) for other approved purposes. In addition, 30-year lease agreements are granted.

¶ 06 (iii) There is a possibility.

¶ 07 (iv) Through the Land Kachcheri process: selection of eligible beneficiaries and assignment to the Divisional Secretary under the acquisition framework for disposition.

¶ 08 (v) There is a possibility.

¶ 09 (c) Not applicable in view of the above.
